About

Cubyts is a Design Ops Platform that helps design teams and leaders streamline their workflows, manage projects, and gain insights into their team's productivity and design processes.

My Role

During my time at Cubyts, I have delivered a number of design solutions while performing all the responsibilities of a Senior Product Designer in the team. As a facilitator, I conducted research activities such as long-tail analysis, user reviews, and usability testing. Additionally, 40% of my job involved maintaining communication between stakeholders, designers, and product managers. This included tasks such as scrumming, scheduling timely design team reviews, and sprint planning in collaboration with the product team.

The Brief

Build a Design Ops platform that empowers design leaders with data-driven insights and helps streamline team workflows.

Long Tail Research

When conducting long tail research for the product, we kept in mind the specific needs and preferences of our target audience. This type of research helped us identify niche markets and opportunities for innovation that might otherwise be overlooked. We focused on specific communities or interest groups, used social media and online forums to connect with potential users, and identified patterns and trends in user behavior and preferences. By taking a thoughtful and strategic approach, we gained valuable insights that helped us understand the needs of our target audience.

The Process

We set expectations with Stakeholders and defined a timeline for the project. Identified Primary and Secondary users of the Dashboard. Reached out to a good mix of both types of users inside and outside the team. Established interview guidelines. We followed an incremental learning method — interviewed 5 potential users and quickly mapped their thoughts on board to identify patterns, then deep-dived into the most repetitive topics with next set of users. We approximately interviewed 11 participants over 10 days. Our findings led us to quick mockups and brainstorming sessions. With multiple iterations, peer reviews, stakeholder and user reviews, we finally found our solutions.

Workspace Statistics

Designed a comprehensive workspace statistics view that gives design leaders an at-a-glance view of their team's productivity, project status, and key metrics.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

In addition to design, we also delved into the platform by collaborating with the Product and Engineering teams to confirm the feasibility and availability of data. As a module owner, my responsibilities extended beyond research and design — I delivered designs in the correct format to the Product Manager, checked requirement documents, groomed the team of engineers and module testers, and personally tested modules before going live to address any design or behavioral issues.
